I am not amused

This morning I got not one but two fax calls on my telephone line. Before 6.30. Well, I guess I'm going to be awake now.

I get these frequently, sometimes a couple a day, sometimes none for several days. Usually they come in the day while I'm at work, but ever once in a while they come at night. I've had them at two in the morning, early in the morning. About the only time I don't think I've had them is in the amorphous "dinner hour" from 5 to 9 in the evenings.

Anyone know a solution to this? I assume that they're the result of random dialing in a mechanized attempt to send fax spam. I can't get rid of my landline, because I can't get reliable cell phone reception.

I don't know. When we used to get them and had a fax on the line, we'd just send nastygrams back until they stopped. Since the fax wasn't automatic, we'd have no worries about faxspam showing up.

Alternately, you could try the phone company. :)

If it is fax-spam, and you can pin down where it comes from, you can report the offense and should see some action. In fact, the anti-spam fax laws are what were (and still are on occasion) used to prosecute email spammers.

I think the "pin down where it comes from" part is the hardest, as I don't have either a fax machine or caller ID.

If it's annoying enough, call the phone company, they may be able to help you.
