Representing America abroad is not all cocktails and garden parties. Sometimes it is a dangerous, scary business. But some of our best people do it because they believe in the importance of serving their country and making the world a better place. The Foreign Service, the Peace Corps, these folks go to some of the same life-threatening places our military folks go, places where they are more likely to encounter guns and bombs and knives in the dark than smiles and flowers. And the do it with the hope of growing peace and stability and making friends and allies for the United States. I honor their service.
