winterbadger: (sailing)

We left Williamstown behind us in a burst of sunshine and blue sky. We had a good breakfast at the coffee shop in town and then went out to the Clark for a dose of culture. There was an excellent exhibition on Pissarro, complete with anonymous mannequins standing about outside pretending to harvest crops &c. And we saw all my old faves, including Turner, Gainsborough, Alma Tadema, JSSargent &c.

But leaving town and heading south, we found the clouds gathering and, well south of Adams, we ran into a massive rain and hailstorm that was ripping leaves off trees and making it quite impossible to see the road more than a few yards ahead. We finally got down to the Mass Pike, but not without making a detour along some gravel roads.

The trip out to Boston went pretty smoothly, and we found our way to our hotel quite easily, thanks to our iPhones' navigating power. My sis met up with us at a very posh restaurant, Bin 26, and we spent three hours over a delicious dinner and several small carafes of wine.

The next day we stopped by V's shop and she showed us a pile of old family pictures she had come across, including some dreadful ones of me as a kid that of course E loved. :-)

Then we drove out to Hopkinton to visit with a friend of E's and her very nice little girls. We had lunch at a pub with good food, good beer, and an alleged ghost (which we did not see).

Then we got in the car and drove and drove and drove...
