Ugh.

Tired. Tirredtiredtired.

Tired from not sleeping enough. Tired of politics and the batshit insane McCain/Palin and their brain-dead lackeys. Tired of feeling as if I'm just about to get a cold. Tired of arguing with stupid people online. Tired of never having enough time to do all the things I need to do, let alone all the things I'd like to do.

And it's just going to get worse. Next week I get to drive down to my mum's, persuade her to pack a sensible portion of her belongings to take with her to her new apartment, persuade her *not* to pack a whole lot of crap she's just going to give away or throw away once she gets there, persuade her to throw away most of the contents of her fridge and cupboards in the process (hint: when Neta and I casually cast an eye over her *surplus* food supply--the stuff that won;'t fit in cupboards and gets kept in the box room--we found enough LONG-expired food to fit in several grocery bags). Then, with help from very good friends, pack her and move her to NJ. And do it all while being upbeat, positive, cheerful, and focused.

I really want a vacation, but it looks like I won't get to take one this year. This moving project is certainly more important, and it's going to take most of my leave. If I'd know this wasn't going to happen until now, I would have taken a week off earlier this month. As it is, the places I was thinking I'd like to go (Cape Breton, New Brunswick, Newfoundland) are going to be a bit cold by November...

OTOH, I do have Fall-In to look forward too. I'm going to share a room with two friends and do a ton of wargaming. I have an evening with N to look forward to tonight (hopefully). I have my weekly game with my buddy Frank on Monday nights, which is proving great fun, as he's an enthusiastic and congenial wargamer. I have my goofy (and sometimes tiresome, but always lovable) cats. And I have my friends, including you good people here.

Plus, I exchanged mail with my 'man of business' (immigration advisor) in Scotland, and things sound very hopeful for next year. He and I are spinning all sort of useful contingency plans in case my planned freelancing business doesn't bring in enough to qualify me for ILR.
