OK, Billy Bragg fans.
I was introduced to this excellent songster by
peaceful_fox and
poliscidiva. They were both in on the phenom early enough to have many of his original releases. I came along later and have only been able to pick up some of his good stuff on the digitally remastered CDs released in 2006.
Is it my imagination, or are these VASTLY inferior to the originals? I know he is is the Social Conscience Bard of Punk, but these CDs seem to be mixed (like far too many concerts) 90% instrument and 10% voice. I have to play with the balance on my CD player for several tracks before I can get anything where the lyrics are audible over the thrashing guitar. I *like* the guitar, don't get me wrong, but it would be nice to hear his voice, and it's kind of hard.
*sigh*
