After dinner last night with my newly returned chums, I watched some telly and went to bed at a reasonable hour, allowing me to get *up* at a reasonable hour and go on a proper ride--my usual 5+ miles on the Cross-County Trail. I chatted with one unfortunate fellow who had had a puncture, got my five miles in, and reflected on the fact that several weeks without much riding left me in a position where what is normally an invigorating ride kicked my butt. Also, my previous opinion that Perthshire Amber is good cycling music was confirmed. Now, to turn this into a daily habit (the riding, not the butt-kicking).
A new hobby to coincide with my bike-riding: bird-watching (or, rather, bird spotting). I really had a good time on a birding walk I went on at Williams over reunion weekend and got some bird books when at SNP with Chris and Mel. I've been enjoying keeping an eye out for the little feathery critters since then, and yesterday morning was rewarded with a scarlet tanager in our neighborhood! I need to start learning their songs, too.
Annoyance: I tried to burn a CD the other day, only to find that for some reason the "I can't see you" that was happening with my previous scanner has now afflicted by CD burner. I can make a list of things I want to burn, and the CD rive will try to burn them, but after formatting them it tells me there isn't a CD drive that can burn CDs attached to my computer. Grrr.
