I would really have liked somewhat more of it. I planned on going to bed just after 10 and getting up around 6.30. So, of course, it wasn't until nearly 12 that I got to sleep, and I woke bolt upright at 5. :-( At least I got some research for my term paper done. But I have a nasty feeling I'm going to be sleepwalking most of the day, which is not good...
Dec. 15th, 2005
1. Stopped by the doctor's office for my post-op check-up. Despite the appointment having been scheduled the week before the surgery, they didn't have me on the list, and my surgeon wasn't even in that office today. They were very obliging and had a different surgeon who was in the office look at me (the whole appointment only took about ten minutes). It seems I'm fine and healing up well. He said (just as the materials had) that I should do heavy lifting or extensive exercise for six weeks. Light to moderate running or cycling, walking, sex (!) are OK, but no weights, no heavy-duty sports or exercise, and no snow shovelling. :-) He said that abdominal exercises weren't really necessary to restore or add muscle tone; "The best thing you can do really is lose weight."
2. On that front, I'm trying to avoid *gaining* any weight during the holiday season (and doing well so far). In the new year I'm going to try to take off about 25-30 pounds in the first six months, with an eventual goal of losing about 60 pounds. It's not going to be easy, but I think I'll be a lot better off if I can do that.
3. After I woke up this morning and was fruitlessly trying to go back to sleep, I had two shattering sneezes. More sneezes followed later in the morning, and I've been sniffling. Noooooooo! I can't have a cold *now*! Not when I've just met someone who likes *kissing*!
Uh, oops. Let that cat out of the bag... :-)
Anyway, rapid infusions of zinc tablets are now taking place...
