election night

OK, it's Election Day, now, technically speaking. Please, today, go out and vote. You know who I would hope you vote for, but for heaven's sake go and vote.

I'm expecting to do my usual Tuesday night thing with my buddies Peter and Aaron, but I'm going to have to watch election returns. So anyone who would like to join us is welcome. I know I'm going to need to be with my firends no matter which way this comes out. :-) And we can all watch Jon Stewart at 10 make fun of whatever situation has come up. :-) I have beer and wine and some weird South American cola, and I think there's some popcorn, so come by if you're of a mind. Peter and I are fairly amusing, and Aaron is not only amusing, he's really cute and (technically) single. Drinks, banter, cute guys... I don't know what else to offer. :-)

Now if you'll excuse me, I have about ten different gods I need to go pray to...

curious longing

I listened to NPR news ont he way in to work this morning. They mentioned at one point that Sen. Kerry, after doing some last-minute campaigning, was due to go home to Boston, complete his election-night tradition of eating dinner at the Union Oyster House, and go watch the election returns with the crowd in Copley Square.

And I was struck by a small wave of homesickness. I miss New England. I miss Boston. I sure wish I could do my job there. There are some nice thigns around here I'd miss, but if it weren't for job and friends, I think I'd go back to Boston.

That's assuming of course I couldn't find some way to get a job in Scotland. ;-)

This is being unbearably close. A nice surprise as Kerry whups Bush's ass in PA, but the northern midwest is looking bad and, well, surprise, Florida is horrendously close. California is going to balance out the current Bush lead, but there's still the southwest and the WI/MI/OH lump that looks cancerously red right now. I'm trying to decide whether to go to bed and hope for the best or stay up and see the worst as it happens. Of the 4-5 people I was hoping to share this with, one showed up. :-/ I hope this wasn't a symbol or a portent...
