A Brad Pitt movie is being filmed in Glasgow. The story is set in Philadelphia, so they are putting up all sorts of US street signs. One caption explains that Glasgow is being used because it's street grid system is like Phillie's.

Trust me. I've been to both cities. And they are totally dissimilar.

Ridiculous.

I thought the same thing when I read that. Then it hit me Brad Pitt in a Zombie movie...how the mighty have, well, sold out?

Oh, I think he passed his sellout date long ago. Some might say it was Ocean's Eleven, some plump for Ocean's Twelve, but I think Ocean's Thirteen was the definitive proof.

Or maybe just his doing a cameo on Friends...

....maybe I'm missing something, but why don't they just film it in Philly? I can understand why they use B'more for films set in DC, or Sydney when it's "nondescript large city", but I'm really confused by this. Trying to make Glasgow look like Philly seems like an extra expense.

Apparently it was a financial decision by the producers, who were afraid that Pennsylvania's giveaway to filmmakers was either not large enough or not certain enough. Article here.
