Well, I hope I never have another bug like this one, but I think the worst is over. I got 5 or 6 hours of sleep last night, mostly in 30 minute segments. My tonsils were so swollen and sore, I couldn't swallow reflexively, only consciously, so it made sleeping rather difficult. On the other hand, I was so congested that I couldn't breathe through my nose reflexively either, so I got dried out quite fast. Which of course just meant my lips chapped and split despite having put lots of Badger Balm on them. But, then, I had the endless coughing to take my mind off it all. At last around three I had the idea to put the humidifier on, and that helped a great deal. That and about a gallon of salt water, gargled in 8 oz. servings. The cats were very attentive--they followed me around and sat in a circle and watched when I did anything, and when I went back to bed each time, they came and curled up around me. My fuzzy nursing staff.

On the good side, the swelling seems to have gone down, the heavy mucus is all coming out (o joy), I can breather through my nose (a bit), and I can almost hear out my left ear again. Now I just need to replace the two cartons of OJ, carton of milk, two boxes of tea, bottle of mucinex, and two boxes of tissues I went through. Oh, and do all the things I had been planing to do over the last three days... :-(

I HATE getting sick.

Well, keep applying tea and lemon -- that ought to see you through. Especially if the tea has a dollop of brandy in it. You might not get well any quicker, but you won't care as much. ^_^
