My phone and Internet were out for two days, rather mysteriously. Especially mysterious since the TV, which comes through the same router, was working fine.

Well, all's well that ends well. My crack electronic connection to the World is functioning again. But, of course, now I have to go to work...

Internet and phone both use tcp/ip. It was probably a computer network problem somewhere in their network not a physical cable problem.

Yeah, when I asked the guy what the issue had been, he said it was a programming problem. Which seems odd they had to have someoen come out rather than be able to reset it over the line (they tried restarting all sorts of stuff remotely and have me cycle the power on various things), but as long as it all works in the end...

Verizon seems to have some problems with their equipment, but they are very responsive in terms of getting techs out, and their customer service people and their engineers are some of the most polite and helpful people I have ever done business with--they really understand customer service.

Don't make me cry. Every year I watch the tree in my satellite LOS grow and wonder when Fios might come to Cape.

My guess is that our cities on terraformed Mars will get it before Cape.
