both have their place - white turnip is rather tasty raw. a bit peppery, whereas the 'neep is sweeter.
but it's GOT to be proper neeps for clapshot.

Thankfully we get the real thing here!
Also good in lentil soup for instance, throw in some neeps and carrots to add sweetness.
I hadn't realised that Lesley Riddoch wrote for the Grauniad. She's a great broadcaster, very sharp.
