Kind of a slow, quiet weekend. I needed that.

Friday I was pretty beat when I got home around 8, 8.30. We went out to Samantha's for dinner, which we hadn't done in ages. My business unit had its big holiday party that night, but I jsut wasn't up to traipsing out for that. Good thing, it turns out, as apparently no one from my team went, so we'd have known NO ONE there.

Saturday we lazed around a bit, watched some footy, worked on wedding invitations...really, I think that was about it! I guess it was also on Saturday that we went out and got a litter mat for the cat boxes and a comb for Gilbert like the one Neta had seen the vet use when she took him in on Friday (bless her--I had totally forgotten I had an appointment for him, and I had to work from 7.30 to 6.30 (ended up being 7.30) that day). The may is super! There has been no cat litter tracked all over the house since we put it down. The comb was also amazingly good--Gil looks much sleeker after N plied it extensively (I held the victim down and told him what a good cat he was being--and he was, mostly), and there was about a cat's worth of dead, matted fur that the cat brush just wasn't getting out of his coat. Plus he really doesn't seem to mind it as much. Our downstairs neighbors had us over for dinner--yummy Mexican food.

Bryan and Peter and I were going to go see Beowulf Sunday afternoon but, well, the best-laid plans of mice and men... they came over and we all played a few games. B and I had three games of Fjords. He and I played Carcasonne, then Neta joined us for another match, then P showed up and we had a third. Then we tried High Society, which we hadn't played before; it didn't really strike anyone's fancy, so we played Guillotine a few times until N and I started getting very sleepy.

N had also spent part of the day getting together the packets we need to send in for our visas. We need to do that pronto, and I needed a letter from my bank to go with my packet (basically saying, "Yes, this guy is in funds.") I went out and got that this morning, plus wired the balance of the payment to the wedding organisers and put the funds from the house sale into a CD while we decide what we want to do next.

I could still do with another afternoon or two of napping...
