I'm off to another concert tonight. The local folk concert series is bringing us Vasen, who I gather are a terrific group from Sweden who somehow have just not gotten onto their calendar before.

I'm all for good music, even if I don't understand all the words. :-) I LOVE Le Vent Du Nord even though I can't follow their French at all without the lyrics written out.

Other upcoming treats are Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Haas, Solas and Bearfoot, and Jimmie Kittel. I enjoy world music, but I especially love me them Scottish fiddle players!

Someone remarked on a list I read that he was preparing, as part of a choral group, to sing Britten's "Hymn to St. Cecilia" and finding the latter portion of the text rather impenetrable. Someone else referred him to this essay for insight into W. H. Auden (the author of the poem on which the hymn is based), Britten, and the meaning of the text.
