Blogs like this one are a prime example of why I LOVE history! There is so much to learn and know about the different facets of life in prior times. It's why I'm a huge xenophile as well--the past *is* a different country, but so are different countries, and different parts of the same country.
People and the structures they create (social, religious, political, and physical) really are fascinating.
As well as frequently maddening.
And occasionally horrifying.
