What with all the spring fever I see going around, this was apt.

My house mates are having a nice, romantic minivacation in the mountains this weekend. Me, I'm going to spend half my weekend cooking food for drunken louts and the rest of it doing laundry and cleaning my kitchen and bathroom. Ah, what it is to be a gay (in the traditional sense) divorcé! ;-)

*hug* the drunken louts don't sound all that terrible, as long as you get to be one for a while. Cleaning and laundry I could do without.

DC are home to Cowlumbus this Saturday. Time for a blowout, IMO.

The drunken louts are not too bad*, it's just the burden of _having_ to do that every week or two that's a chore. I'm not going to work the tailgate crew next season, let alone run it, that's for sure. And, no, I don't get to be a drunken lout, because (a) too much needs to be done and supervised and (b) Chris is away, so I have to drive myself to and from, so no intoxication for me.

I've found I don't really enjoy it any more, anyway. I don't like who I am when I've had enough alcohol to be considered drunk. I enjoy the taste of (some) beer (and wine, liquor, etc.) and I enjoy the buzz, but more than that** and it impairs my ability to see the game (or do whatever else I'm doing--I stopped after two glasses of wine the other night when Aaron and I were playing foosball, because I could feel it slowing my reactions, and I wanted to play well, or as well as I can manage). I enjoy the "having a secondary activity" and the "having something to do with my hands" that drinking (or smoking) involve, but the aftereffects of either of those make me think there's got to be something else I could be substituting for them.


* With some exceptions; there's a guy in the Barra named Jay who is like the worst that you or I _ever_ got, except that he's that way every game, from several hours before gametime all the way through the game and after. Think Tom F. when he's been on a binge. On the bustrip to NJ, this guy had finished off 11 beers, and was announcing the fact to everyone, before we got out of Maryland. I wish he would move to NY and join the Empire Supporters' Club so I could loathe him properly.

** The difficulty is always recognizing that point (it's usually around 4 drinks) and stopping there. There's that insidious voice in your head that says "That was good; let's have another!" and "You don't want to lose the buzz now!" and next thing you know, you're leaning over the rail and screaming abuse at Brian Hall.
