don't get RCN

If you are looking for cable service, and RCN is one of your options, I would strongly suggest you avoid dealing with them.

I terminated my RCN service to go with a better package from Verizon. I received my final bill a week ago, and they are asking me to pay an additional sum for service *after* the time I canceled my contract with them. I called to protest and was told they always bill for ten days after service is canceled.

Since I had specifically canceled when I did because it was the end of their billing cycle, this really annoys me.

and, on the lighter side...

Automatic email response ends up on road sign.

Not ganked from [livejournal.com profile] wolfette, but we should do the Internet equivalent of shouting "Jinx!" when both of you say the same thing at the same time...

a reminder not to get too cocky

Electoral Vote's this day in 2004 page had John Kerry beating Bush by a comfortable 37 electoral votes.

OTOH, fewer than 100 of those votes were in states labeled "strong Kerry"; today's tally has 264 EVs, almost enough to win in and of itself, in the "strong Dem" column.
