oh crikey...

I've been seeing trailers for 300 on TV for a while now, and I have to say it looks as if it is going to reach new levels of Hollywood Abuse of History. The Spartans, fighting for democracy? THE SPARTANS? Apparently giants, rhinocerosessss, and probably giant bat-winged scaly flying monsters feature. Maybe there will be a special cameo for King George, leading the Freedom-Loving Westerners against the Evil Iranians Persians...

Really, do they have to keep making cr@p like this when there is real history to film that's so much better?

Glasgow trip

Airplane booking confirmed :-) I was hoping that I could try Icelandair this time, as I've heard lots good about it, but in the end it was a BA flight (well, a pair of flights each way) that worked best in combining timing and price. I get to fly in through London, which means I can play my favourite game of 'spot the football ground'.

And DC United is winning the away leg of their Champions Cup tie!

United run rampant, clobber CD Olimpia

D.C. United kicked off their season in style Wednesday, defeating CD Olimpia 4-1 in the first leg of their CONCACAF Champions' Cup series in Honduras. Christian Gomez led the way with two goals, while Luciano Emilio scored against his former team and Facundo Erpen finished the rout.
