words to avoid

Good lord! From the Highlands and Islands Enterprise

According to online communications specialist, Email Reaction there are a number of innocuous words that should be avoided in email message bodies and subject lines.

These include in alphabetical order: acceptance, accordingly, beneficiary, beverage, certified, dainty, deceased, degrees, deposit, depression, diagnostics, dollars, dormant, enlarge, foreigner, lenders, lottery, medication, paste, percent, presently, reciprocal, replicas, reseller, sincerely, statements, southwestern, Swiss, tablets, trademarks, urgent, valuables, warehouse, watches.

I can imagine avoiding these in subject lines, but that one would need to avoid them altogether in email is crazy. In another piece, the writer prides him or herself on having avoided other people's email filters by misspelling words. Is this what it's come to? Are spammers going to drive us awl intoo a wurld of mizpeling in a vein attemput to kommyoonikate?

who knew?

Some British English spellings I am up on. But I did not know that what is spelled "behoove" in the USA is spelt 'behove' in the UK. All righty, then.
