mmmm

So I ended up watching one soccer match. And, since it was the last game, even though it was somehow the first recorded, they told me the scores of the other two games I had recorded. Grrr. So I watch ed the league wrap show and skipped the other two games.

DC was playing one of the other teams in our conference, and they were painfully undermanned due to many of their best players being suspended for misconduct, out due to injury, or absent because they were playign with the US senior mens' national team; the other three Eastern teams were playing teams from the western conference, so we had a chance to pick up a net 6 points in our division table if all of them lost and we won. And since we're in 3rd (barely) and the top four teams go to the playoffs (yes, whimpy, but designed when we had more teams--next year we'll be back to 12, and maybe 14 in a few years, at which point it will mean something other than "we avoided humiliation" to go through from regular season).

Well, of course, we lost to a horribly undermanned Chicago Fire, including scoring two own-goals in the 3-1 thumping. Two of the other three eastern teams lost their games, but one of the teams ahead of us won, so now we're in 4th! Ugh!

I then felt so tired and achy (I think a combination of change in pressure over the last day or so, being slightly tense the whole time I drove the 3 hours back from my folks', and maybe the two glasses of Bushmills I allowed myself as celebration after the first two weeks of SBD--12 to 16 pounds lost so far, by the way, if my parents' scale is to be trusted) that I decided on Option #3: take a hot bath. One day I would like to have a bath that's big enough for me. Mine is standard American shower-bath: too shallow and too short. The jacuzzi upstairs is nice and deep, but it's designed for sitting in, not lying in. Still, it was very nice, and Purring Orange Bonker cam and inspected me several times while I was soaking.

I read a little more of Brei (the essay I have to write a critique on for my homework); I need to finish reading it and write the review now, so that I can enjoy the evening care-free. I think I'll spend part of that time in the hammock with a book and part putting up new shelves in the laundry-room closet so I can move the rest of the game collection in there. Then I'm planning on a huge pot of chili for dinner (and for several more meals this week) and more decadent TV watching. I'll try and fit the promised weekend post in there somewhere too.
