this election is about democracy
...the important thing isn't the falsity of the [Republican] charges [that Democrats are failing to support the military during wartime], which Republicans continue to repeat despite press reports debunking them. The important thing is that the GOP is trying to quash criticism of the president simply because it's criticism of the president. The election is becoming a referendum on democracy.from Slate
I really couldn't agree more. How often have we heard the VP, or the A-G, or other mebers of the administration attack someone because they were commiting the heinous crime of "not supporting the president" or "criticizing the commander in chief"? Are we going to go back to the days when sedition was a crime? In a second Bush Administration, it seems quite possible.
