wow!
What an excellent game last night! DC United really showed up to play, and the Rapids were clearly still shattered from their embarrassing defeat by a nine-man FC Dallas team last weekend. Despite the field looking more like a Slip N Slide than a soccer pitch, our guys managed to really dominate Colorado, control 80-90% of the game, and give Joe Cannon nightmare he won't forget soon. (After Freddy Adu scored on him, the Nest started singing "Joseph Cannon is a 15-year-old's bitch, a 15-year-old's bitch, a 15-year-old's bitch..." :-)
Amazing rainstorm out here was apparently a devastating near-hurricane elsewhere. My sympathy to those who got caught in and soaked by it. I noticed a huge quantity of leaves down downtown and in our neighbor hood when we got back last night, but not until this morning did I see the massive dead limb that came crashing down in our front yard. Glad that didn't hit the house.
Dar Williams concert tonight;
flyingwolf, am I picking you up at the Metro (King Street)? or have your recent experiences with agony suggested to you that rest may be a better plan? Anyone else want to join in the fun?
I thought last night about getting up and running this morning as I had on Tuesday, and then going to the gym this afternoon, so as to makeup for not getting any exercise yesterday. I got to bed late, though, so I set the alarm for 7.30. Cats got me up at quarter of seven; I fed them, actually managed to go back to sleep (unheard of for me after waking), slept until the alarm went off, then apparently went back to sleep again, as I woke up from a dream in which Bobby Convey was helping someone move furniture for me to find it was nearly 8. I've never done that before either. Must get to bed earlier...
Edit: My other two favourite team (New England and Chicago) also did well last night, NE cleaning the clocks of the Dallas Burn/FC Dallas 3-0 and Chicago stomping 2-1 the SJ E-quakes who beat us like a rented mule last weekend.
