Holy cr@p! That was one of the most contentious and unpleasant games I've seen so far this year. The DC-Red Cow game in NJ was nastier in the stands, but that was nasty on the field.
The PK call was a bit dubious, but the ref was out of control overcompensating for the entire rest of the game. He waived off Esky's goal for a totally imaginary foul, no-called at least one more very legit PK against the whiners of KC, totally ignored Filomeno getting pulled down on the edge of the box twice (in fact called a fould on *him* at least once, which i ludicrous), and gave KC some totally unjustified free kicks in hopes of "making amends". I hope he gets a very nasty review from the officiating panel. He should be ashamed of letting the crowd intimidate him to that degree. KC was frustrated and angry, but that was no excuse for (a) the referee's frantically biased calls or (b) the terrifically unsportsmanlike conduct that characterised most of the rest of KC's game.
In the end, DC kept their heads and answered the moron in the center and the thugs on the other team in the only way that serves any purpose--scoring three goals to their one and stuffing the win in their back pocket for the flight home.
Man, I'm stone-cold sober and I'm still piping mad. What a disgrace! What a good game for DC! Freddy is just getting better by leaps and bounds. Esky was good and worked hard as always. Jaime was doing a good job, as was Christian. Boswell made a couple of good defensive plays (as well as the goal :-). Even Erpen actually looked good, making a couple of terrifically handy pinpoint tackles and making a few good headers. Gros was his usual excellent, tough as leather and running like the wind. Perkins still has some positioning issues, but so does Nicky, and Troy has the 4" on Nicky...
I can hear the awful, droning, platitude-filled voice of Thomas Rongen coming from the living room, so the Chivas game must be about to start...
