Two welcome pieces of news.
President tells liberal wingnuts to shut up and wit the the program.
OK, that's not exactly what he said, but I almost wish he had. People, he didn't get elected to be the ultraleft president, despite what the GOP hardcore think. He's consistently called for change, yes, but also for *moderation* and for all Americans to work together. If we turn his first four years into "how can we be as extreme on the left as Bush was on the right" it's going to be the only four years he'll get, and we'll all be the poorer for it.
Palin bails out on the remainder of her term
Yes, she's trying to spin it as "I'm being virtuous and not using the last months of my term as an opportunity to junket." But (a) don't stop now; you seem to have been OK with it before and (b) why not just stay in office and do the job you were elected to do? *That* would be virtuous. *Maybe* this frees her up to build a broader base int he Republican Party, but for now it looks like giving up, and any time someone that downright *bad* and that popular wants to step _out_ of the spotlight, I'm all for it.
