Game Day on Saturday

Just a reminder.
No miniatures game, as not enough people expressed interest, but lots of boardgaming of all sorts, and the foosball table still works.
Start: 11ish; end: whenever.
Directions on request.
Drinks and food welcome; some will be supplied.
Remember to premedicate if allergic to cats (there are six in the house currently!)

fun theater!

I went to see the British Embassy Players' music hall in Maryland tonight. Great fun, lots of song and dance, groanful comedy, all the beer/soda/snacks you want, and some very lovely barmaids for the measly price of $25, with proceeds going to charity.

ONLY Thursday night is not sold out at this point, so reserve your tickets now. It's a blast!

soccer event

I could have sworn I had posted this already, but for those of you I didn't already email:

DC United are going to be playing Chelsea FC, 2004/2005 Premier League champions who lost one (1) regular-season match (out of 38) last season. The match should be a corker; it takes place on July 28th at FedEx Field (press release from DC United below). I'm getting together a group of folks to attend; we'll be getting seats in one of the sections on either side of the midfield block, in the $55/seat range. If you'd be interested in joining the group, let me know and I'll add you in to the order. Since I'm a DC United season ticket holder, I get a discount (the seats are $65 for the general public) and the chance to order early (so hopefully getting better seats), but I have to get the order in soon.

more photos captioned

I used part of my lunch hour to caption a few more (15) of the photos in my Scotland trip album at http://public.fotki.com/winterbadger/scotland/ Only 151 to go! :-) And, of course, the travelogue, one of these days.

One thing I did discover is that the three RN ships we saw in Oban harbour are rather special; they're the RN's Northern Ireland Squadron, specially converted minecountermeasures ships used to intercept gun runners and other bad boys. No wonder the Marines on deck were a bit edgy about people with cameras wandering around.
