with a due sense of caution

A memo I saw recently (who sent it, to whom, and about what are really irrelevant) described the results of a recent survey of the group involved and then included the subheading "Actioning the Results".

Is it really possible that someone thought that this was an appropriate use of the word "action"?

Someone please shoot me now.

a good afternoon!

Got my annual review today: lots of very gratifying compliments and a very nice bump in pay. I'm planning on celebrating (1) buying a new kettle on the way home, (2) cleaning like a beazle tonight so I'm ready for guests on Saturday, and (3) taking my sweetheart out for a very nice dinner tomorrow. :-)

I've had a number of jobs where I didn't get recognized for what I did or got treated badly by supervisors who (I think I can honestly say at this remove) felt threatened by my competence. I've had jobs where I felt my work was appreciated and my contributions were recognized. It's nice to have the latter rather than the former.
