Ralph Nader

Is an annoying littel man who has prostituted a life in consumer protection at the altar of his own vanity, and is doing his best to defeat everything he espouses because his ego is more important to him than anything.

This ends this morning's diatribe.

doctors

I've been very lucky. I've had two really good doctors as GPs. I'm even luckier, in that one of them is the person I see currently. Brickte DeBass, with General Internal Medicine Group. She rocks, and their practice seems very good. It may just be that I'm coming from Kaiser that makes me say that...

Of course, all that is balanced out by the fact that my sinuses are capable of sustaining and nuturing an infection just based on someone writing the word "germ" on a piece of paper in the same building.

oh, and one more cranky remark

McDonald's starts serving lunch at 10.30. How stupid is that?

That is all.

arrrgghh!

Three things that drive me crazy in academic writing:

  • a lack of structure

  • sweeping overgeneralization with is then treated as fact

  • reliance on theory to the exclusion of application

  • failure to provide meaningful or well-thought-out examples or demonstrations of principles

OK, so that was four.

thanks to Kathy for this one

England is looking for a state jester for the first time in more than 350 years.

I particularly like the bitterness of this response:

The National Guild of Jesters said there was too little notice for professionals to be able to apply.

"It's a gimmick. It's getting people for cheap," Jonathan the jester, guild member and the official jester for the city of Salisbury, told the BBC's Today programme.
